What We Love: Sailing the Salish Sea in the Sun

Glad we came through at 4 1/2 knots!

The current through Dodds Narrows can be tricky

Getting through Dodds Narrows can be a breeze if you time it right. If you’re sailing between VanIsle and Midge Island south of Nanaimo, you can ignore the tide chart and just go for it, but you could be in for a rough ride.

Thanks to this video from Greg Pelt, you can sail through these Narrows from the comfort of your screen. It’s much more soothing this way.

It’s also the site of this video of the J Pod orcas who swam through recently.
